There are three modes in document view:

The sidebar icons are the same for review, view and edit, but you can’t compare when in edit mode.

The document toolbar changes depending on the document mode.

Left sidebar

Buttons on the left sidebar open the left panel. The content of the left panel is generally used as a means to navigate to and from other documents.

toc icon The table of contents panel for the current document or publication, or when viewing a PDF – the PDF outline panel
xref icon Document references panel – showing xrefs to and from this document
folder-tree icon Document folders panel
search icon Document search panel to find text within the current document or publication
system-status-o icon Daily group activity panel
batch-validate icon Validation report panel to browse documents by validation results
compare icon Compare documents panel when viewing PSML documents only
task-list icon Workflow navigation panel lists the workflows in a group
gridsize-medium icon PDF thumbnails panel – view thumbnails when viewing PDF documents only

Right sidebar

Buttons on the right sidebar open the right panel. The right panel is usually used to display information related to the current document only.

task icon Browse document tasks
attachment icon View document attachments
file-validate icon Validate the document
file-version icon Manage document version
workflow icon View and update the workflow
history icon View the document history
note icon View the edit notes (only if there is a current one)
rocket icon Export or publish the document
info-circle icon Update the document information and metadata
help icon Help about this document
developer icon View the developer tools when developer view is enabled
