What’s new in version 6.0008

Key point: Document, URL and fragment attachments. Easier xref selection. Sorted comments.

Attaching to comments

Until this version, there were two mechanisms to attach files to comments, you could either:

  • Attach files to your email and post it to the group email address;
  • Or attach a file directly from the comment dialog.

In both cases, the files are selected from your file system and uploaded directly into the attachments folder of your group. However, you cannot specify a PSML document, URL, or fragment this way.

From this version, you can also select documents which are already in PageSeeder, using the attachment dialog when you click the Attach to... button on the comment dialog.

The attachment dialog lets you browse or search for a document or URL to attach to your comment. If the selected document is a PSML or PDF, you can specify a fragment (or page) as an attachment.

Viewing and listing attachments

When you view a document or URL, if the document, URL or any part of it is attached to a comment, the attachment icon is displayed. The attachment icon also shows in the document right sidebar.

Click the icon, to open the document attachments panel. This panel lists all the comments which reference the current document as an attachment.

Sorting task and workflow comments

The task panel, document task panel and workflow panel list comments in chronological order by default.

When a task or workflow includes many comments, you would need to scroll down to update it and see the latest comments. When there are several comments, there is now an option to show the most recent comments first and update the task or workflow directly from the top of the list.

The Most recent first option persists for the task and workflow panels and updates your preferences.

Document filter in xrefs dialog

When your project uses xref configurations using specific search criteria, these were applied only when you used the search to select your target document in the xref dialog.

The same criteria are now automatically applied when you browse the folder structure instead, so that it is easier to select the correct document. Files matching the search criteria can be selected, other files are greyed out.

Editing unresolved and archived xrefs

If a document includes an unresolved xref or an xref to an archived document, it is clearly visible when you view the document – it displays using a different color and the broken xref icon.

Unresolved xrefs or xrefs to archived documents are now also shown differently in edit mode.
