Attachment dialog

Key point: Select an existing URL, document or fragment to attach to a comment.

This dialog opens when you click the Attach to button on the comment dialog. It lets you select a URL or document to attach to a comment using the search and by browsing the folders.

If the selected document is a PSML document, you can also specify a fragment, or if it’s a PDF document, you can specify a page.

When you have selected a URL, document or fragment, it is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Click Attach to attach it to your comment or click Cancel to return to the comment dialog.

Search

Searching is the default method to find your document, the dialog automatically opens to this view.

Search query

When the Search documents field is empty, the search view lists the most recently modified or created documents and URLs in the group. Type a term in that field to list the auto-suggested results.

The auto-suggested results are the documents that have words in their title, Document ID, filename, heading or prefixed paragraph that start with the term you entered. The search term is not case sensitive.

For example, if you type ‘com’, it returns all the documents which match terms such as ‘component’ or ‘comment’.

This field also supports suggested filters for document types and labels.

For example, if you type ‘de’, it suggests that you filter your results with the document type ‘default’.

If the term you’re looking for is only available in the content, click the checkbox to the right of the search box to suggest results doing a full-text search.

If you want to search documents in a different group, use the group field on the top right of the dialog.

Suggested results

The suggested results show the title and location of every matching document or URL. If the document has a description, it is also shown. The last modified date is only displayed when no document is selected.

The matching term is highlighted. If you opted for the full-text search, the results include an extract of the content that includes the matching term.

Click a result to select and preview the document.

Browse

Use the browse view if you know where your document is located.

This view can only be used to attach documents or fragments. Use search if you want to attach a URL.

This view shows the folder tree structure for the current group. If you want to browse the folders from a different group, use the group field on the top right of the dialog.

Use the icon to expand a folder and icon to collapse a folder. When you expand a folder, it lists the folders and documents within that folder.

Click the document to select it.

Preview

When you click a search result or document in the folders, it is automatically selected and appears as a preview on the right side of the dialog.

Click Attach, if you want to attach the document and return to the comment dialog.

If you preview a PSML document, you can select a specific fragment, scroll to the fragment you want to reference and click to select it. Similarly you can select a specific page when previewing a PDF document. Click the new fragment to select it as the attachment.

Click Attach, if you want to attach the fragment or page and return to the comment dialog. Or if you want to attach the document instead of the fragment, click the icon next to fragment at the bottom of the dialog.
