Document attachments panel

Key point: Lists comments attached to the current document or URL.

Use this panel to view a list of all the comments that are attached to the document or URL you are currently viewing.

When viewing a document, click the icon in the right sidebar.

You can also open this when you click the icon to the right of a fragment. The icon indicates that there is at least one comment attached to that fragment (or page for a PDF). When you open the panel using this method, only the comments attached to that fragment are displayed.

This panel is only available if there are comments attached to the document, URL or a fragment of the document.

Comments by location

Comments are grouped by location (fragment), in document order under the location heading. They are then listed in chronological order for each location.

The location heading starts with a icon.

Comments attached to the whole document appear first under the heading “Document”.

When the location is a fragment, the location heading helps you identify the fragment, this might be the content of the first heading in the fragment, or if no heading in the fragment, the initial content of the first paragraph in the fragment. Click the icon to navigate to the actual fragment. The fragment is highlighted when you mouse over the icon.

If the comment is attached to an archived fragment, the location heading displays a icon instead.

Click the icon to only show comments attached to that location. The icon appears when you mouse over the location heading.

When the panel only shows comments attached to a specific location, click the  All attached comments on document button to remove the filter and list all attached comments.

If there are attachments to archived fragments, click the Show comments to archived fragments button to include these comments.

Individual comments

This panel lists comments instead of the full discussion or task because the document or fragment is attached to individual comments – see context and attachments for further explanations.

Each comment shows the author, date, and actual comment made.

As the comments are grouped by location, the location heading is therefore an attachment for the comment.

The other attachments are listed following the comment. When an attachment is a fragment or URL, click the icon to get a preview. If an attachment is another fragment in the same document, click the icon to go to that fragment.

Click the Show full discussion or Show related task button to open the corresponding panel and view the discussion or task in full.
