Editing toolbar

Key point: Options to format your content during editing.

The editing toolbar is revealed when your document is in edit mode and the cursor is in an editable fragment.

It provides options to control the formatting of your content based on the current text selection or position of the cursor. If the current selection has any of the formatting applied, the icon is highlighted.

Block formatting

These buttons automatically apply the selected format to the selected text where the cursor is. For further information on these options, see paragraphs, headings, preformat and block labels in the default editor.

To apply the block styles for Heading 5 and Heading 6, click the  icon to the right of “Paragraph” to open the the formatting drop-down. Then, hold the cursor over Blocks to see these options.

Lists

Use these buttons to insert or change lists. Use the drop-down buttons to view the available list style types. For further information on these options, see editing lists in default editor.

Level, indent and numbering

Use these buttons to change the indent and numbering of the current selection.

Inline styles

Use these buttons to apply an inline style to your selection. For more information, see inline formatting and labels in the default editor.

To apply the inline styles for superscript, subscript or code, click the icon to the right of “Paragraph” to open the the formatting drop-down. Then, hold the cursor over Inline to see these options.

Insert

Use these buttons to insert or edit links, xrefs, images, tables and special characters.

Miscellaneous

Use these buttons for other types of operations.

“Paste as text” is useful when copying and pasting content from other sources that might include formatting. When this option is selected, content in your clipboard is pasted as a single block of text, discarding any formatting or styling from the original source.

Viewing the source is helpful on occasion to tweak the formatting or fix content rejected by the editor.
