How to unarchive a document

Key point: Restore an archived document.

Prerequisites

You must have a role of contributor or higher.

When documents have been archived, they are located in the archive folder.

When they are unarchived, they are restored to their original location.

Option A: unarchive function (preferred)

The preferred option is to use the unarchive function as it also lets you resolve references that might have been removed when the document was archived.

This function is available when you view an archived document, to the right of its title in the document toolbar:

It is also available in the documents page, in the menu to right when you hold the cursor over the document’s title in the list.

  1. Click the icon to bring up the unarchive dialog.
  2. Select the Resolve references to let PageSeeder resolve links, xrefs and images automatically,
OR clear this option if you prefer to resolve them manually.
  3. Click Unarchive to start the unarchive process.

Option B: move out of archive

Alternatively, you can unarchive a document by moving it out of the archive folder into the wanted folder.

  1. When viewing the group documents page, in the folders panel on the left, navigate/expand the folder structure to ensure the folder or subfolder you want to move the archived document to is visible.
  2. Click the archive folder and navigate to the document you want to move.
  3. When the document to be moved is visible in the main section of the page, click, then drag-and-drop it into the wanted folder in the folders panel.

This method does not resolve references, so it is only recommended if the archive document does not include any references or if its references were preserved when it was archived.

It is possible to resolve references in the group, or for a folder but not for a single document. However, editing a fragment in a document resolves references in that fragment.
