Link

Key point: A link to an external resource or page.

A link points to a page or resource that is managed outside PageSeeder. Such resources are denoted by a URL and can be:

  • An address for a page on an external website.
  • An address for a page in the PageSeeder user interface.
  • An address that points to a video or audio resource hosted externally.
  • A virtual address or identifier.

You can attach semantics to PageSeeder links using labels.

Unlike links in conventional HTML, PageSeeder maintains a two-way reference between the URL and the source document. This feature lets you see which documents point to a specific URL and automatically update documents when the URL changes.

To know more about the target of a link in PageSeeder, when viewing a document in review mode, hold your mouse over the link to view the link tooltip.

Creating links

You can create links with the link dialog form:

  • Inside a fragment of a PSML document.
  • As a property in a properties fragment or document metadata.
  • In a region within a PDF or image.

To quickly insert a link, press Ctrl+Shift+K to open the link dialog while you’re editing.

For developers

In PSML, links are represented using the <link> element.

For more information, see the link element in the PSML reference on the PageSeeder developer’s website.
