General logs page

Key point: Log of system events and errors.

The general logs capture events that are not already captured by more specific system logs like the index logs, process logs or publish logs.

They include stack traces and error details to better understand issues with the system.

Log selection and filtering

Select which day to display in the Date field. You can use the and buttons to select the previous and next day respectively.

The logs can only be shown a day at a time, so changing the date reloads the logs for that date. Other options only alter the result for the selected date.

Use the Time tracker field to display the event surrounding a specific time for the selected date. This field is useful when tracking issues reported in other logs.

All events are returned by default. Use the Display levels drop-down box to only list errors and warnings or debug messages.

Use the Filter logs input when you’re looking for specific events matching some text. When you enter a value, only events where logger or message match that value are returned with the matching text highlighted.

Logs table

The log events for the selected date are listed in a table. They show the time, logger and message for each event.

Use the Page size drop-down to change the number of events to display at once in the table.

When there are several pages, use the  ,  , , and   buttons to navigate to the first, previous, next and last page respectively.

Click the table headers to sort the results displayed in the table.
