URL card

Key point: URL information at a glance.

URL cards display information about a URL from the metadata provided by the external Website.

PageSeeder uses metadata provided by the Open Graph protocol or Twitter card meta tags. But it can also list metadata from Dublin Core and any other meta tags.

The URL card includes:

  • The icon and name of the site.
  • The title, description, and image of the page.
  • The URL type and status.
  • Links to the URL document on PageSeeder or to the external website.
  • Click the icon to preview the URL in the document panel.

The URL metadata status is indicated using an icon on the top-right corner of the card.

Canonical URL and URL redirection

When multiple URLs point to the same page, websites might use the following:

Either way, PageSeeder lets you know in the card. If you’re an administrator, you can automatically update the URL and links to it from the card.

The update options are also available if you are a contributor or higher in a group that has the edit all URLs option selected in the advanced options ( group).

Format

URL cards are displayed either horizontally or vertically.

Horizontal format

The compact format is used in dialogs such as the URL dialog and link dialog to help you identify the URL quickly.

Vertical format

The vertical format is used in the document view page and preview document panel.

Click show more to display all the metadata provided by the external website.

To reload the metadata from the website, click on the bottom-right corner of the card.
