Document panel

Key point: Use this panel to preview any document when you see the icon.

When you click an icon, the document panel appears on the right. The contents in this panel are not editable.

Panel options

The panel header at the top of the panel shows an icon indicating the document’s media type and the document’s title. If the document doesn't have a title, the filename is displayed instead.

For all documents except URLs, the panel also indicates:

  • The number of reverse xrefs (references to the document).
  • The number of xrefs the document contains.
  • The number of links (references to URLs rather than xrefs) in the document,

The number of references to a document is particularly useful for files typically included in other files, such as images. This helps indicate whether they are in use or safe to archive.

Most documents can be downloaded by clicking the Download button at the top right.

Comparison mode

This panel is also used to show comparisons between two versions of the document. This happens when using the compare documents panel when the document is being edited.

In comparison mode, the following options are available:

  • to only show differences and hide identical fragments or show the entire document.
  • to toggle between the structural differences and the content differences.

Document preview

The preview changes depending on the document’s media type.

PSML document

If the media type is PSML, you can view the content of the document, but you can’t edit or download the contents. Click any xrefs in the content to open the destination document.

You can zoom in or out by clicking the plus or minus buttons. Scroll through the pages using the scroll bar on the right.
