Unlock fragment dialog

Key point: Accept or reject another users draft to resume editing.

When another user has created a draft on a fragment, editing is disabled by default to prevent conflicts. This dialog helps you resolve the situation so you can continue working.

What you’ll see

The dialog displays:

  • The author of the draft.
  • When the draft was created.
  • Highlighted differences between the previous content and the draft.
  • Options to accept, reject, or ignore the draft.

These options are intended for when someone leaves the fragment in draft state and forgets about it. If a user has a recent draft on the document, that is, less than one hour old, PageSeeder warns you that the author of the draft might still be editing the content.

There is also an option to add an edit note to any of the actions before clicking Confirm to finalize it.

Your options

Accept

Select the Accept option then click Confirm to save the draft as the current version. You can optionally add an edit note before you confirm. This replaces the previous content with the draft, allowing you to resume editing from this point.

When you accept the content, you become the author of this edit, but the other user is displayed as the original author in the fragment history panel and document history panel.

Reject

Click the Reject option then click Confirm to discard the draft and return to the previous content. The draft is deleted, and you can continue editing the original content.

When you reject a draft, it is permanently deleted. The user who created it is no longer able to access it in their my drafts page or resume their work when editing the document. For this reason, this option is only available to users with the role of Manager or to administrators.

Ignore

Click the Ignore option then click Confirm to keep the draft for the users but edit the previous content. This option is only available in edit mode.

This option is not recommended, as it doesn’t resolve the content conflict and is likely to create competing changes.

Cancel

Click the Cancel button to close the dialog without making a decision. The fragment remains locked until the conflict is resolved through one of the other options.
