How to unarchive a group | PageSeeder User Guide

Key point: Restore an archived group.

Prerequisites

You must have a role of manager or higher.

Unarchiving a group restores all its contents.
The parent project must exist for a group to be unarchived. Administrators can unarchive projects.

Groups can be restored from the following pages:

If you have just archived the group from the group maintenance page – you are automatically taken to its group dashboard.
Your groups and invitations page, you can either:

Click the Dashboard button to the right of the group, or
Click the Unarchive button to open the unarchive dialog.

If you’re an administrator – you can go to the archived projects & groups page to find the group to unarchive.

From the group dashboard

Immediately after archiving a group, you see the archived group’s dashboard.

You can also view the group dashboard at another time:

From the groups and invitations page – select the Archived groups tab, then click the Dashboard button.
From the archived projects & groups page – administrators can click the icon to the right of a group name, then click the dashboard button.

On the dashboard, you see the following warnings:

This group is currently archived.

Unarchiving the group will restore all its contents.
The new group will be called exampleprojectname-groupname.
The parent project (exampleprojectname) must exist for this group to be unarchived.

Click the Unarchive group button. In the Unarchive group dialog, you see the name of the group you are unarchiving.
The option to re-index the group’s contents after restoring is selected by default. Clear the checkbox to restore the group without reindexing (many group functions are not available without re-indexing).
Click the:

Yes button – to restore the group. You see a progress bar and confirmation that the group has been renamed (the “archive-” prefix has been removed).
If no issues with the unarchive process, the progress bar closes automatically and then you see the group dashboard.
Or click No – to close the dialog.

From the Groups and invitations page

Instructions for unarchiving a group from this page are the same as from the group dashboard. The only difference is that because you aren’t on a page specific to the group, the warning message has a little less detail.

From the Archived projects & groups page

From this page, administrators can:

Click the red Unarchive button to the right of the group you want to restore. You see a Confirm unarchive dialog showing the name of the group you are unarchiving.
The option to re-index the group’s contents after restoring is selected by default. Clear the checkbox to restore the group without re-indexing (many group functions are not available without re-indexing).
Click the:

Yes button – to restore the group. You see a progress bar and confirmation that the group has been renamed (the “archive-” prefix has been removed).

Click the icon on the right to close the progress bar and remove the group name from the list of archives.

Or click No – to close the dialog.
