Group dashboard page

Key point: A group management console for managers.

The dashboard is a central page that allows managers to conveniently manage a group. The left menu or the links in the main section enable quick navigation to the pages for  Administration, Logs, and Members. Additionally, for project managers the project template pages are available under the   Project template tab in the main section.

Logs

Using the graphs, managers can quickly see some key information about indexing, process tasks or publish tasks for the group and whether they are currently running.

Daily index logs

Click the Daily index logs link to go to the index logs (group) page. You can also hold the cursor over a bar to see the total number of infos, warnings, and errors on that day. Clicking a bar opens the index log page for that day.

Under the graph, you see the total number of objects currently in the queue to be indexed. There are two phases that run in parallel for indexing:

  1. PageSeeder scans the group for objects to index and puts them in the queue – the number increases.
  2. Objects in the queues are processed by the indexing tool – the number decreases.

Generally scanning is faster, so it increases then decreases.

Managers can quickly see whether indexing is in progress and if it might take some time i.e. if there are 50000 objects being indexed and it’s decreasing slowly, then it might take a while! Predicting indexing time is hard as some objects process faster than others, e.g. comments take less time than documents, large documents take longer than small documents and PDFs take even longer.

Administrators can view more detailed information on the index logs (system) page.

Daily process logs

Click the Daily process logs link to go to the process logs (group) page. You can also hold the cursor over a bar to see the total number of infos, warnings, and errors on that day. Clicking a bar opens the process log page for that day. Under the graph, you see the total number of active threads.

Administrators can view more detailed information on the process logs (system) page.

Daily publish logs

Click the Daily publish logs link to go to the publish logs (group) page. You can also hold the cursor over a bar to see the total number of infos, warnings, and errors on that day. Clicking a bar opens the publish log page for that day. Under the graph, you see the total number of currently running publish jobs.

Administrators can view more detailed information on the publish logs (system) page.

Dashboard cards

The dashboard cards provide quick shortcuts to essential management pages for the group. The links in the dashboard cards for Administration and Members are also accessible from the administration menu to the left.

PUBLISH SCRIPTS – If an Administrator, on the publish scripts page, manage script files used for publishing.

Archived group

If the group is archived, you see a message indicating that is the case and a button Unarchive group to start the unarchiving process.

If you have the required permissions, you can also delete the group permanently by clicking Delete group.

Deleting a group permanently and irreversibly erases the contents of the group.
