Key point: Once you understand how identifiers work, every document and fragment can be an email
address.
Prerequisites
For PageSeeder to process an email message, one of the following conditions must be
true:
- The “from” field of the message must match the email address of a group member.
- The group must be configured to accept mail from non-members.
How to post a comment on a document – by email
While sending an actual email message is unlikely to require any explanation, getting
the address is easier with some guidance. There are two ways to do this:
- Select the “document discussions”
icon at the top of right sidebar to open the document discussions panel. Click the
icon to copy the email address for the document and open your mail client (depending
on how it is configured).
- Or, manually assemble the email address using the URI ID for the document, which is found on the document info and metadata panel when you click the
icon in the right sidebar. Once the URI ID is known, the message can be sent to the
address of the whole document by adding “-default”, followed by the server name –
see the following:
205512-default@ps.example.org
How to post a comment on a fragment – by email
You can also put the fragment ID in the address. To lodge a comment at the third fragment
in the document, send email to the following address:
205512-3@ps.example.org
How to post a comment on a group – by email
You can manually assemble the email address using the project name followed by the
group name, then the server name. See the following example:
acme-specs@ps.example.org
For managers: Managers can also see this email address at the top of the group configuration page.
