How to insert an image in a document

Key point: Insert an image in a document.

Prerequisites

Must have a role of contributor or higher.

1 Open image dialog

Images are inserted from the document view page when in edit mode.

  1. Place the cursor where you want to insert an image.
  2. Click the icon in the document toolbar
    or right-click to select Image from the editing context menu
  3. This opens the image dialog which displays all the images in the group.

If you drag and drop an image from your file system into the editor, it automatically opens the image dialog ready to upload the image.

From the image dialog, you can either search for an existing image or upload a new image.

2A Search for an image

To search for an existing image:

  1. If there are many images in your group:
    1. Use the scroll bar on the right to show more images, or 
    2. Narrow down your search, by typing an image name in the Lookup field or select a folder in the Search folder field.
  2. Click an image thumbnail to view the image details.
  3. Click the Select this image button.

2B Upload an image

Or to upload an image, first click the Upload button.

  1. In the Upload folder field, navigate to the folder you want to upload the image to. You can then:
    1. Click Choose a file to upload from your file system, or
    2. Drag and drop a file in the main section.
  2. After preloading the image, a thumbnail of the image appears and you can enter a title in the File title field.
  3. Optionally, if you click More details, you can change the filename or overwrite an existing image.
  4. Click the Upload image button.

3 Edit details and save

  1. Enter the details of the image:
    1. Title – enter a title for the image.
    2. Change button – click to change to a different image.
    3. Width – set the width of the image.
    4. Height – set the height of the image.
    5. icon – lock the image ratio.
    6. icon – resets to the original image ratio.
  2. Click the Save button.
