How to duplicate a document

Key point: Make a copy of a document.

Prerequisites

You must have a role of contributor or higher.

Only PSML documents can be duplicated. The duplicated document is created in the same folder as the original.

  1. Go to the documents page.
  2. Navigate to the folder where your document is located.
  3. Hold the pointer over the name or title of the document you want to duplicate
    (for example, Sample document).
  4. Click the icon on the right to reveal the drop-down menu.
  5. Click the Duplicate option to display the duplicate document dialog.

  6. Edit the title of the duplicate document if required
    (for example, “Sample document (1)”).
  7. Click Show more details to edit other information of the document (optional).
    1. Add a document ID for the new document.
    2. Edit the allocated Document ID for the original document (only displays if the original didn’t already have one).
    3. Add a document label.
    4. Add a description.
  8. Click Duplicate when done.

When you duplicate a document, PageSeeder automatically assigns a document ID to the original document if it doesn’t already have one, and on the new document creates Document ID of original metadata property with the same value. The ID is used when comparing document variations.
