Numeric range filter

Key point: Filter results on fields falling within a specific range.

This filter applies to fields containing numbers and return results when that number is within the specified range.

Options

The graph shows where results exist in the selected range. Hold the cursor over any bar to get the actual number of results for each value. Tall bars indicates that the search returns many results in that range.

Use the slider to select the range. The selected values are displayed beneath. Values can be entered directly in the text boxes.

By default, the results in the graph are displayed using a linear scale to keep the bars proportional to the results so that they are easier to compare.

In case the results are not evenly distributed – when some values include many results whereas others don’t – the graph can displayed using a logarithmic scale. A logarithmic scale makes it possible for the graph to show all the values in a compact space even when there are wide variations between the results.

For example, if most of your documents have few xrefs, but a handful have large number of xrefs. The values with few results appear very small using the linear scale in comparison to those with many results. But using the logarithmic scale, these differences are less pronounced.

Use the Log switch to view of the results using a logarithmic scale.
