Edit note

Key point: A note about an edit.

Edit notes provide information about a specific fragment edit.

The purpose of edit notes is to explain the reason for the change in the document. For example, if a document was edited to address a typographical error, an edit note can be made to mention this.

To help you categorize edit notes, you can use labels.

In the user interface, PageSeeder uses the icon for edit notes. They appear on the right when viewing a document to indicate which fragments have an edit note and let you view the edit note panel when you click the icon. You can also hold the cursor over a icon to view the edit note in a tooltip.

Although they are attached to document fragments, unlike comments, edit notes do not persist after the fragment has been edited. But, they appear in the fragment history alongside the related edit and also in the document history.

In the fragment and document history panels, edit notes can also be added to existing edits.
