Use this page if you need to create or update multiple members at once.
If you are using the import member option in the context of a group, it is a group member import. Otherwise, it is a system import.
To import users into a group, select a group in the group field, or navigate to the correct group first and select import members. Select the default role and notification option for the users to import.
If no group is selected, you are doing a system import.
Importing members at system level is an advanced function. It is rarely useful to create members without a membership to a group – unless you create a home group.
The imported data must follow this pattern:
Firstname,Surname,Email,Username,Password,Field 1 to 15
The first three fields are always required.
The password is only required for new members.
The fields named 1 to 15 are specific to the group the members are imported to.
*field 1 to 15 in ascending order
If neither the email address nor the username match an existing member, the import process creates the member using the specified details.
To create a member with no email address use “No Email” as the email address. “null” is also accepted instead of “No Email”.
Password requirements still apply to imported members. Make sure that the password is strong enough to successfully import a member.
If the email address or the username matches an account already on the server that isn’t a member of the group, the account is added to the group.
The group import process doesn’t change details of an existing member (first name, surname, email or username), or membership details (role, notification fields).
After the import, each member that has been created or added is listed in the results.
If any of them couldn’t be imported, they are marked as failed without impacting the other imported members.
Common errors include invalid email addresses and weak password. Make sure that the email address is valid and the password strong enough.
