User accounts page

Key point: Find and manage all user accounts in PageSeeder.

This page is only accessible to administrators.

You can look up users across all users in the system. To find a user account, start typing a name, email address, or username in the Account lookup field. The matching accounts are listed as you type.

You can filter user accounts based on their email address by typing in or selecting an option in the Email domain field.

You can also filter accounts based on their status using the Account status field. Selecting a value in this field lets you apply the same operation to multiple accounts.

Use Show locked accounts only to only list accounts which are currently locked and you can unlock multiple accounts at once.

Only the first 1000 user accounts are listed. If your PageSeeder instance includes more than 10000 accounts, use the filters to find the matching accounts. Note that, contrary to other filters, the Show locked accounts only field doesn’t reload accounts from the database and only shows accounts already filtered by the other fields.

As an administrator, you can search for users directly from the search bar, start typing the word “member”, click the auto-suggested Search for members only option, then type the name or email address of the user.

User accounts list

When you start typing in the Account lookup field, user accounts are displayed in table format. These details are shown for each account: First name, Surname, Email, and Username. They can be sorted by clicking the icon to the right of each column heading.

Click the View/edit button to the right of an account to open the member panel.

Click the icon to select from these possible options in the drop-down:

  • – activate an account that has been created. This option is only available if the user account hasn’t been activated yet.
  • Reset password – opens a dialog to confirm. If you answer Yes, an email is sent to the user with instructions on how to reset their password.
  • Unlock user – unlock a user account where the wrong password has been entered repeatedly. This option is only available if the user account is locked.
  • Account profile – opens the account profile page.
  • Disable account (If not disabled) – opens a dialog to confirm. If you answer Yes, the user is no longer able to sign in with this account and no longer receives notifications.
  • Enable account (If already disabled)– opens a dialog to confirm. If you answer Yes, the user returns to its status before being disabled.
  • Delete account – opens the Delete member dialog.
    • Click the checkbox if you want to remove the member’s name and email from comments, edits, etc.
    • To confirm, enter DELETE in the field then click Yes. The member is deleted permanently, but their comments and edits are retained.

Create a user account

To create a new user account, click the Create account button at the bottom of the page. The create a user account panel opens on the right.

Updating multiple accounts

You can perform bulk operations on multiple user accounts by following these steps.

First, filter accounts by selecting an option in the Account status field or by checking Show locked accounts only.

After applying a filter, a checkbox appears to the left of each user account in the list. Select all the accounts you want to update.

When a checkbox is selected the button at the bottom of the page changes to show the available bulk action based on your filter:

  • When Show locked accounts only is selected → Unlock selected accounts.
  • When Activated accounts is filtered → Disable selected accounts.
  • When Unactivated accounts is filtered → Activate selected accounts.
  • When Password required is filtered → Disable selected accounts.
  • When Disabled accounts is filtered → Enable selected accounts.

Click this button to apply the operation to all selected accounts. A confirmation dialog appears. Enter the requested confirmation text, for example, "DISABLE" to disable multiple accounts and click Yes to confirm.

A progress indicator appears in the top right corner as the accounts are updated, and the list refreshes automatically as changes are applied.

Leaving the page before completion might interrupt the batch operation, resulting in only partial processing of the selected accounts.
