Logging level

Key point: An indication of the urgency to attach to a log message.

Every log message corresponds to an event that occurred or a log message sent by PageSeeder.

On a busy server, there might be many log messages. The majority of them are only records of events that are useful when you are trying to understand an issue or verify that the system functions normally.

Color-coded icons

Individual messages

To help you identify log messages that might require your attention, PageSeeder uses a consistent set of color-coded event levels reflecting the severity of the underlying event.

These are used consistently throughout the user interface.

The same colors are used for graph bars in the dashboards.

For developers: It is possible to enable a DEBUG level which provides more fine-grained information.

Summaries messages

When PageSeeder shows a summary of log messages, the icon reflects the highest level of severity. The only difference is that we use a green icon to indicate that everything went smoothly.

This icon is used in log calendars and the drop-downs to select logs.
